Hop in the Batmobile at the 10th Annual Captain’s Comic Expo
It not quite Comic-Con, but Captain’s Comic Expo is definitely the best event for Holy City comic fans. The 10th Annual Expo begins on Saturday, February 24th at the Omar Shrine building in Mount Pleasant and continues through Sunday, February 25th.
This year’s event features over 135 tables of classic and modern comic books, toys, artists, and cosplay. There will also be an authentic replica of the 1966 Batmobile for guests to take photos of and sit in.
Captain’s Comic Expo will once again showcase comic creators, gallery artists, and craftspeople like:
- Babs Tarr (Batgirl, Motorcrush)
- Marvel colorist Rico Renzi (Spider-Gwen, Squirrel Girl)
- Author Tini Howard (Power Rangers: Pink)
- Artist Karl Moline (Buffy, Avengers)
- Animator Nik Rummel (King of the Hill, The Hard Place)
- Universal Studios Gallery artists Kit Steele and Bianca Roman-Stumpff
- and more
The best comic book and toy dealers in the southeast will bring a variety of classic and hard-to-find collectibles to the Expo. Whether you are looking for vintage Super-Man comics, rare issues of The Walking Dead, or that childhood Star Wars action figure, the Expo is the place to find it.
Costumes and cosplay (dressing up and acting as your character) are celebrated at Captain’s Comic Expo. Guests are invited to dress up either Saturday or Sunday (or both) to walk the floor and interact with other guests. Saturday will feature The Star Wars Experience, a stage full of Stormtroopers, Droids, and other Star Wars characters with full photo backdrops and movie-ready costumes. Sunday will feature Charleston’s biggest Cosplay Contest, in which participants are invited to show off their unique costumes on stage for applause and prizes.
Kids are a big part of Captain’s Comic Expo, and there are a number of special activities for them. Sunday’s Cosplay contest will have a special children-only division in which every participant is a winner. Kids 10 and under get into the Expo for FREE with the purchase of an adult ticket.
