The Atlantic Cup Returns to Charleston in May

The Atlantic Cup, a top-level sailing race, will once again start this year’s event in the Charleston Harbor. From May 22nd to 26th, you can visit Charleston City Marina where the boats will be docked to prepare for the race.
On Thursday, May 24th, the Atlantic Cup will host kids from all over Charleston for an up-close look at the boats and a special meet and greet with the sailors. The Kids Education Program gives students and teachers the opportunity to visit the boats and hear the sailors’ stories from their time on the ocean. The Kids Program also helps children learn about the environmental challenges facing the ocean and how reducing, reusing, and recycling can make a huge difference. More information can be found here.
On Saturday, May 26th, the Charleston Maritime Center will provide the best view of the start of the race as the boats head off to New York City. Competitors will begin their journey to New York City at 12 pm.
