9th Annual Teddy Bear Picnic will be held in Hampton Park on 3/4
Teddy bears will take over Hampton Park as the Charleston Parks Conservancy hosts the ninth Teddy Bear Picnic in March. Families are invited to enjoy musical entertainment by John Cusatis, face painting, seed planting, crafts, a scavenger hunt and more at this year’s event set for 1:30-4 p.m. Sunday, March 4 in Hampton Park, 30 Mary Murray Drive. Admission and all activities are free.
Dress your bear in his finest for the bear fashion show called Project Runway: Bear Style. Plus the popular Teddy Bear ER is back for “injured” bears needing treatment and well bear checkups. This year, MUSC Children’s Health is the official partner of the Teddy Bear ER.
Parker Bear will be back this year for photos and autographs. Parker is the star of “Here, There and Everywhere with Parker Bear,” a children’s book written by the Conservancy’s volunteer Park Angels and photographed by Charleston photographer Libby Williams.
In the book, Parker Bear heads out on a Charleston parks adventure, visiting 10 city parks before meeting his friends at Hampton Park for the annual Teddy Bear Picnic. The book was released at the 2017 Teddy Bear Picnic, and copies will be available for purchase this year as well.
Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch, blankets and chairs to enjoy an afternoon in the park. Food trucks will have food available for purchase.
The event is free but families can pre-register online and pre-order their copy of “Here, There and Everywhere with Parker Bear” to save time at check-in: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/t
The rain date for the event is Sunday, March 11. For more information, visit www.charlestonparksconservancy
