Charleston Symphony Orchestra League, Inc. Announces its 41st annual Symphony Designer Showhouse

A gracious 3-story stucco home, circa 1870, on Charleston’s legendary Tradd Street, South of Broad, is featured in the 41^st annual Charleston Symphony Orchestra League, Inc. (CSOL) Symphony Designer Showhouse.  Opening March 14, the house will display twelve exquisitely decorated spaces designed by locally and nationally renowned interior designers. All proceeds benefit the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and fund CSOL Music Scholarships.

The 2018 CSOL Symphony Designer Showhouse sits on one of Charleston’s most coveted residential streets, which stretches across the lower Charleston peninsula from the Ashley River to the Cooper River. Tradd Street was one of the original carriage ways laid out in the 1680 Grand Modell of Charles Town. This year’s Symphony Designer Showhouse provides a stunning platform for our talented designers.  They include:

Patti Tully, Showhouse co-chair and designer liaison notes:  “We’re thrilled to have such a special house and spectacular lineup of designers to continue the tradition of this most special and cherished event that draws thousands of visitors to Charleston every spring.

The CSOL Symphony Designer Showhouse ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 6:00 pm on March 13 during the evening’s Preview Party. The Showhouse will be open daily from March 14 through April 15. House and boutique hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Saturday and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday.  The café is open Monday through Saturday, 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.

Advance tickets are available for $20 online at www.csolinc.org through March 13 and $25 at the door beginning March 14.   Tickets include access to all rooms.  The boutique and café do not require a ticket.  Children 10 and older are admitted with a ticket when accompanied by an adult. ·         The second annual Pursuit of the Podium, in which several well-known residents of Charleston compete for the honor of conducting the CSO during the opening concert of Piccolo Spoleto.  Vote for your favorite candidate at the Showhouse.

·         The fall Island Tour of Homes taking visitors through wonderful properties on Kiawah and Seabrook Islands.

All proceeds benefit the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and CSOL^® Music Scholarships.

About 142 Tradd Street:

The gated entrance to the front garden sets the stage for 142 Tradd, a gracious three-story structure in the style of an English townhouse.  On the ground floor, you will enter a cozy sitting room, beyond which you will explore the treasures of the Designer Showhouse Boutique.  Be sure to note the original hewn stone floors, exposed brick walls and fireplaces.

The second floor main living area offers impeccable hardwood floors and glorious natural light, showcasing a formal living room and dining room.  Fireplaces, pocket doors and ceiling medallions are original to the home.   An elegant kitchen and eating area overlooking a large walled garden, along with a deck perfect for entertaining, completes the level. The third floor includes a large master bedroom and luxurious master bath, along with a guest bedroom and bath.
