Hops and Vines returns to McLeod Plantation on May 10th

After a popular debut last year, Charleston County Parks’ Hops and Vines event series returns to McLeod Plantation Historic Site in May. The event will be held on May 10th and May 24th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Hops and Vines will feature live music, beer, wine and a food truck, in the gorgeous setting of this historic site.
On May 10th, guest can enjoy live music from Dave Landeo and food from the Dashi Food Truck. The May 2rth edition will include music from Emily Curtis and bites from the Braised in the South food truck, winner of the 2017 Food Network show Great Food Truck Race.
Interpreters will be on site to illustrate the history of McLeod Plantation and answer questions. Guests are encouraged to arrive by 5:15 pm for a complimentary tour of the site’s grounds. The main house and gift shop will not be open during the event.
Admission is $15 in advance, or $20 on site (space permitting) and includes two drink tickets. Extra drink tickets and food truck fare are available for an additional fee. Space is limited and this event is expected to sell out, so advance registration is recommended. Tickets can be purchased at CharlestonCountyParks.com. Dogs are not be permitted.
Located on James Island and owned and operated by the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC), McLeod Plantation Historic Site is a former sea island cotton plantation that has borne witness to some of the most significant periods of Charleston history. Established in 1851, McLeod Plantation is an important 37-acre Gullah/Geechee heritage site that has been carefully preserved in recognition of its cultural and historical significance. The grounds include a riverside outdoor pavilion, a sweeping oak allée, and the McLeod Oak, which is thought to be more than 600 years old. The site’s buildings include homes that make up Transition Row, where enslaved families and their free descendants lived during the 19th and 20th centuries. McLeod Plantation Historic Site is open for regular visitation every Tuesday through Sunday.
