Mex 1 Coastal Cantina Hosts 6th Annual Cinco De Mex 1 Block Party on 5/5

Mex 1 Coastal Cantina in West Ashley hosts their 6th annual Cinco De Mex 1 Block Party on Saturday, May 5th starting at 4 pm.

The celebration includes:

• Live music
  • 4:30 pm – Brazilian beats by Duda Lucena
  • 8 pm – The Dubplates
• Performances
  • Local Capoeira (a form of Brazilian Martial Arts)
  • Maculele (an Afro-Brazilian Dance played with sticks and machetes)
  • Samba dancing
  • Large drum circle
  • Brushfire Collective will be bringing the heat with a fire performance
• Multiple outdoor bars
• Food tent
• Raffle

Tickets are $10 in advance ($15 at the door) and includes a free drink upon entry. Kids 12 and under are free and under 21 is $5. A portion of proceeds from entry – as well as a portion of money from a surfboard raffle – will go to benefit our local Charleston Surfrider Chapter who helps to keep our beaches clean. Since both parking lots are blocked off, Mex 1 encourages you to park next door at Rogue Motion/the old Ryan’s or take any other form of transportation.

Mex 1 on Sullivan’s Island will be throwing a Cinco De Mayo party as well, featuring all day drink specials and live music with Return of the Mac first at 6:30 pm, followed by DJ R-Dot at 9:30 pm.
