The Latest Restaurants Opening in Charleston

It’s that time again when a variety of new restaurants have either recently opened or will be opening soon in the city, and like always, it’s a plethora of different cuisines and themes.

We’ve seen plenty of restaurants come and go over the years, but these new additions sound more than promising, and should be worth checking out on your travels through the town.

Semilla Mexican Street Food

This traditionally themed Mexican restaurant is opening in downtown Charleston. Although an official opening date has not been announced, a sign at the Charleston Farmers Market read that the new restaurant will be taking over the spot that was once Lee Lee’s Hot Kitchen, at 218 President St. Lee Lee’s closed down in 2016, and the spot has remained vacant until now.

Central Island Square

Central Island Square, situated on Central Island Street, will be having a new restaurant open. Roll Hard LLC has leased over 4000 feet on the street, according to Lee & Associates, a real estate firm in the city.

An opening date for the restaurant has not yet been released to the public.

McDonald’s

The McDonald’s at 109 Goose Creek Blvd is currently being revamped, and will be down for an entire day, from 11 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon.

Included in the revamp will be a series of special activities and promotions fit for the whole family. Extra Value Meals can be won for a year, and a meet-and-greet with the Hamburgler will be available for all visitors.

A prize raffle will be held, as well, and some of the prizes include a tablet, a Fitbit, and a flat-screen television. Face painting will also be available for painting, and a number of food giveaways that can be earned through a prize wheel.

The revamped restaurants will feature state-of-the-art self-ordering kiosks, table service, and digital menus. There will also be a number of specials offered over the course of the week once the establishment has been renovated.

Juiced Up

Formerly known as the Goodie House, a simple catering establishment found at 168 Calhoun Street, shut down over a decade ago in 1996.

It was then remodelled into a Starbucks, and although it saw some success, it has now once again been taken over.

The new place is called Clean Juice, and it offers a range of different health juices and smoothies, as well as juice cleanses and avocado toast.

Check Out Services

A new service that has grown rapidly across the country, ‘Check Out With Me’ is now available in several locations around South Carolina, including Charleston. The service offers customers the chance to self-check out items that they would otherwise have to take through a teller.

Customers no longer need to physically go to the store any more, but can instead browse through an online inventory, purchase what they want, after which they receive an electronic receipt. With the receipt, they can go to the store at a later stage and pick up the items they bought.

With the new restaurants and services being opened up in the city, it’s the perfect time to take a trip and try out the local eateries.

It also means a chance to get away from the TV, the computer, and the online gambling casinos that always hold our attention.
