Itinerant Literate Books to Open Storefront in Park Circle This Month

After three years of mobile bookselling, the owners of Itinerant Literate Books, Christen Thompson and Julia Turner, will open the Itinerant Literate “Bookstop” storefront this month at 4824 Chateau Ave. in Park Circle.

A grand opening party is scheduled for July 21st starting at 10 am with first-through-the-door giveaways. There will also be discounts, specials, and literary events throughout the day. Events include a children’s story time in the morning, a literary scavenger hunt in the afternoon, an open mic in the evening, and live music beginning at 5 pm. Further details can be found on the event’s Facebook page.

Since April 2015, Itinerant Literate has been a mobile business, selling at farmers markets, night markets, and regular neighborhood stops, from Folly Beach to Mount Pleasant, but the bulk of the bookstore’s stops has been in Park Circle.

“We made great friendships and business relationships with several of the business owners in the area,” Turner said in a release. “It just made sense that we would eventually locate our storefront in this neighborhood.”

The store will host programming for children and adults on a daily basis, and the bookmobile will continue operation outside of the Park Circle neighborhood.
