Merchants Hall Makes Public Debut with The Lowcountry Cuisine Showcase
On Wednesday, August 15th, you could attend the first public gathering at Merchants Hall, a private event space that opened in April of this year. The Lowcountry Cuisine Showcase will run from 6 pm to 8 pm on the second floor of 36 North Market Street.
During the event, you’ll be able to taste Lowcountry-themed foods from Charleston’s Tristan Catering & Events, Salthouse Catering, Duvall Catering & Events, and sip an assortment of wines and local beers from Spike by Snyder.
Built in 1856, Merchants Hall originally served as J.C.H. Claussen and Company, a wholesaler of crackers, cakes, candies and other goods. After undergoing extensive renovations to preserve and highlight the building’s historic charm and industrial past, the event space now boasts a 2,808 square foot ballroom, with room for 180 people standing or 150 seated. The space features luxurious interiors and City Market views, while maintaining and emphasizing Charleston’s unique history and culture. The event space also includes high ceilings, a bridal or host suite and a warming kitchen. Planners can also choose to utilize the space’s optional stage, custom-built bar carts and ADA compliant elevator.
Tickets are $25 and available for purchase at merchantshallchs.com/events .
