Here are some of the latest stories and info from around town:

  1. The Lowcountry Food Bank recently announced the receipt of $10,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to support child hunger-relief efforts in coastal South Carolina.
    • In addition, Food Bank announced a $10,000 grant from The Darden Foundation.
  2. South Carolina’s NGeeYL (pronounced “en-gee-why-el”) has released his latest single “Trip Gang.” You can listen to the song here.
  3. Ridership on the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority’s (CARTA) Hospitality on Peninsula (HOP) Shuttle surpassed 10,000 in July, the third-straight record-setting month for the pilot park-and-ride program. Total ridership on the HOP in July was 10,015.
  4. Abstract – That Rapper is releasing his brand new single, “Mumble Rap,” via Real South Records on all streaming and downloading platforms on Monday, August 20th. Keep an eye on his Facebook page for info.

  6. Charleston Jazz has announced that Tatjana Beylotte will serve as the new Director of Development. Beylotte comes to Charleston Jazz with 18 years of experience in fundraising for arts organizations. Most recently, she managed the fundraising activities for the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art at the College of Charleston as Deputy Director. Click here for more info.
  7. The Beach Company helped push fundraising efforts for renovations to Moultrie Playground over the finish line with a $50,000 donation this summer. John Darby, CEO of The Beach Company, presented the Charleston Parks Conservancy with the donation at the recent groundbreaking for the new upscale multifamily housing and commercial complex called The Jasper on Broad Street.
