Help Shape Your Community With CCPL and Lowcountry On the Table

Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) is participating in Lowcountry On the Table by bringing the region-wide event to several of its branches throughout the day on Thursday, October 4th.

This day-long event invites thousands of residents and “table hosts” to break bread while discussing and recording ways to make the Lowcountry a better place. Top ideas and recommendations from the event will be awarded Spark grants to enact change, made possible by the Library Foundation of the Lowcountry.

“With no preordained agenda, this listening event is out to prove that every voice in the Lowcountry matters,” said Library Foundation President George Stevens. “To grow the movement, we’re calling on residents from all walks of life to recruit neighbors, friends, family and colleagues to participate in cozy conversations around a dinner table, a kitchen table, a picnic table, or wherever people gather. Anyone with interest and ideas has a seat at the table.”

As a program partner, CCPL will provide space for tables at three of its regional branches. Room capacity is limited, so registration is required to attend. Visit the CCPL website to register for a specific session.

  • Main Library, Room A at 9 am and 12 pm, and Room B at 3 pm
  • Dorchester Road Library at 10 am
  • Mount Pleasant Library at 6 pm

“As public gathering places spread throughout Charleston County, we felt that our libraries would be the perfect spot for these community conversations,” said CCPL Executive Director Nicolle Davies. “We encourage people to come out on October 4th and have your voices heard so we can make our community even stronger.”
