Wonder Works Hosts 8th Annual Holiday Elfstravaganza on November 10
The 8th Annual Wonder Works Holiday Elfstravaganza is set for Saturday, November 10th, from 9 am to 2 pm in the Belle Hall Shopping Center in Mount Pleasant.
The entire Charleston community is invited to this free, family event to kick off the holiday season with several free activities, holiday treats, and the hottest toys of the season. Thanks to local toy store Wonder Works, every child will leave with a free toy from Orb Toys and Ty.
“This year’s Elfstravaganza will bring more magic than ever before,” Wonder Works owner Christine Osborne said. “We are thrilled that Adam Reed, author and inventor of Reindeer In Here, 2018’s hottest holiday tradition will be joining us. Reindeer In Here is a little quirky; he has one antler that’s smaller than the other…but that’s OK! We’re all a little quirky, and this little Reindeer is here to teach us that different is normal!”
Face painting, writing letters to Santa, decorating cookies, arts and crafts, and more free activities will be available all day for event goers. Of course, Elfstravaganza would not be complete without an appearance from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Families can hop on board the Santa Shuttle to be transported to Wonder Works to have their picture taken with Santa. The shuttle will be running for transport between Wonder Works and Elfstravaganza all day. Kids will enjoy live performances by local artists Southbound 17, Cat Strickland, John Cusatis, The Charleston Vibes, and The Dance Arts Studio of Mt. Pleasant.
National toy companies and local inventors will host toy testing with the hottest toys from Alex, b4 Adventure, Crazy Aaron’s Putty World, Fat Brain, Fly Bar, HearthSong, Learning Resources and Educational Insights, Marky Sparky, Orb Toys, Plus-Plus, Relevant Play, Sidekik, Tenzi, Wireless Express and more. Kids can discover the magic of hands-on, creative play in the Melissa & Doug World of Wonder, where the toy makers will debut their two newest imaginative play sets: the Animal Care Center and the Baby Center.
Elfstravaganza will benefit four local children’s charities. Hugs for Harper, founded in memory of the late Harper Drolet, will be raising money to find a cure for Pediatric Soft Tissue Cell Cancer. Keys for Hope, started by a group of Mt. Pleasant girls, will be selling embellished keys with proceeds given to One80 Place. The Lonon Foundation will be decorating holiday cards for cancer patients in local hospitals and raising money to support their monthly program, UPLIFT, benefiting children whose parent or caregiver has cancer. Charleston Hope, whose mission is to empower students & teachers in Title 1 schools through relationships, resources, and opportunities, will be featuring their Adopt a Classroom program.
Harris Teeter will provide free cookies, treats, and drinks for everyone in attendance. This year, Elfstravaganza will be held in a new, larger event space behind PetSmart, on Egypt Road, in the Belle Hall Shopping center. Free and convenient parking will be located at SeaCoast Church, off Long Point Road.
