INTRO Exhibition Returns to Charleston This Week
INTRO, an innovative pop-up art exhibition spotlighting ten rising visual artists from across the region, returns to downtown Charleston this month. This unique contemporary art show begins with an Opening Reception on Friday, November 9th, and will run until Sunday, November 18th.
Curated and hosted by Matt Mill, Owner and Publisher of Art Mag, and Michele Seekings, Owner of Spire Art Services, INTRO identifies and showcases works from top emerging Southern artists in an effort to bring attention to Southern contemporary art and engage new players in the local art scene. The event will activate a vacant space located at 535 King Street for nine days.
This year’s installation will feature works by Craig Lynberg, Katherine Dunlap, Paul Cristina, Alex Waggoner, Chambers Austelle, Adam Eddy, Anne Rhett, Chris Nickels, Carrie Beth Waghorn, and Sara Pittman.
“At Art Mag, we’re always thinking about ways to help art lovers discover, connect with, and champion new artists,” Mill said. “We are proud to partner with Spire Art Services to highlight these ten talented young artists, and are excited for what this show represents for the future of Charleston arts.”
This month’s pop-up exhibition will serve as the foundation to develop an annual week devoted to the visual arts, drawing new collectors and art fans to Charleston every November.
“INTRO was conceived to provide a local platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents and launch their careers,” Seekings said. “While this pop-up only runs for nine days, we hope it brings long-term attention to Charleston as a contemporary art hub for the Southeast.”
