Home Team BBQ Presents Second Annual Rock the Block Benefiting Hogs for the Cause on February 23rd

On Saturday, February 23rd, Home Team BBQ hosts their second annual Rock the Block party benefiting Hogs for the Cause. The free-to-attend family-friendly event will take place at the downtown location and includes food, drinks, music, and more in support of the fight against pediatric cancer.

From 11 am to 6 pm, festival-goers can expect a variety of eats from:

• Pitmasters Jonathan and Justin Fox of Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q (Atlanta, Ga.)
• Chef Eddie Hernandez of Taqueria del Sol (Atlanta, Ga.)
• Pitmaster Sam Jones of Sam Jones BBQ (Ayden, North Carolina)
• Shuai & Corrie Wang of Short Grain
• Chef Bob Cook of Edmund’s Oast
• Goat.Sheep.Cow

Palmetto Brewing Company will be onsite pouring a handful of brews, including the Home Team collaborative “Nose to Ale,” and will be debuting the new “Idle Speed” and “Nice & Brite” varietals. Other drinks available for purchase will be provided by beverage partners Larceny Bourbon, Deep Eddy Vodka, Altos Tequila, Virgil Kaine, and Underwood.

Live entertainment will be provided throughout the day, with performances by singer-songwriter Elise Testone (with The Led Zeppelin Tribute), Drivin N Cryin’s Kevn Kinney, and headliner Great Peacock. Attendees can also purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win a variety of prizes, from a YETI cooler, a Larceny electric guitar, to a medium Big Green Egg, all presented by celebrity emcee Marcus Amaker. Lastly, a kids’ zone inflatable bounce house will be onsite as families are encouraged to attend.

Admittance to Rock the Block is free to the public, but donations will be appreciated at the entrance. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $95 per person. A VIP pass grants access to the event’s courtyard, where ticket holders can enjoy all-you-can-eat food offerings from FIG.’s Jason Stanhope, Minero’s Wesley Grubbs, and Home Team BBQ, in addition to drinks from Edmund’s Oast mixologist Jayce McConnell. Kids VIP tickets are also available for $25 per person, allowing each his or her choice of food from the VIP courtyard or selections off of Home Team’s regular kid’s menu. All proceeds from Rock the Block 2019 will benefit Hogs for the Cause, a non-profit organization that helps alleviate the emotional and financial strain experienced by children and their families during the fight against pediatric cancer. With the community’s support, the inaugural Rock the Block event raised over $25,000 of the $40,000 that Home Team donated in 2018 alone, encouraging higher goals for this year’s event as well as plans for larger grants to be allocated to Charleston-based families. The event serves as the premier fundraiser for Home Team’s support of Hogs for the Cause, in addition to multiple pop-up events at the restaurant, limited-time special menu items, and the restaurant’s “Round Up” campaign.
