Charleston Vigil in Solidarity with the People of Christchurch, New Zealand Scheduled for 3/21

Members of the public are invited to attend a vigil in observance of those slain and injured during the recent attacks at the Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Islamic Centre in Christchurch, New Zealand at 6 pm on Thursday, March 21st at the mosque of the Islamic Council of Charleston, located at 1117 King Street.

Vigil participants will include Imam M. Bourouis El-Idrissi of the Islamic Council of Charleston and Sheikh Shamudeen and Imam Herbert Fraser Abdul Rahim of the Al-Jamir Ar-Rasheed mosque of North Charleston. Other participants will include Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg, Police Chief Luther Reynolds, Mother Emanuel AME Pastor Eric Manning, Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy Senior Chaplain Rev. Rich Robinson, Charleston Jewish Federation President Eileen Chepenik, and Kadol Kadosh Beth Elohim Rabbi Greg Kanter.

In accordance with the Islamic tradition inside mosques, Vigil attendees will be asked to remove their shoes upon entry of the worship room of the mosque, before the Vigil begins.
