Operation Home’s Annual Gimme Shelter Party Scheduled for 4/25
Operation Home’s annual Gimme Shelter fundraiser will take place on Thursday, April 25th from 6 pm to 10 pm at the downtown Home Team BBQ. Funds raised during the event will support Operation Home’s mission of providing critical home repairs, wheelchair ramps, and heat and cold relief programs throughout the Lowcountry.
For $75 per person, guests can enjoy food, cocktails, live music from Junco Partner, and a silent auction. Tickets can be purchased here.
Themed “Home Team Diner,” this year’s Gimme Shelter event will offer a selection of nostalgic, off-menu eats aligned with the era of diners. Staff will be dressed in true diner fashion (complete with soda jerk aprons and hats!) and will kick off the party with starters such as buffalo wings with celery hearts and blue cheese, drunken pimento cheese with fried saltines, and popcorn. Additionally, a buffet will showcase throwback Americana mains like meatloaf and patty melts, as well as fried chicken and shrimp rolls. Other offerings will include sides such as mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and rice with peas & gravy, with finishing sweets that spotlight American all-stars like house-made twinkies and a sundae station.
An open bar featuring Home Team cocktails and live music by Junco Partner will run throughout the night, as well as a silent auction that includes an array of gift cards to local restaurants, concert tickets, and footballs signed by celebrated coaches Dabo Swinney (Clemson University) and Will Muschamp (USC). Lastly, the evening will feature Operation Home’s “Build a Ramp” appeal, which assisted in providing five families with wheelchair ramps in 2018.
Home Team BBQ is located in downtown Charleston at 126 Williman Street.
