International Diving Institute Expands in North Charleston; Mayor Summey to Participate in Ribbon Cutting
The International Diving Institute on Tuesday announced North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey would join officials and students for a ribbon cutting for their newly renovated classroom facilities located on the old Navy Base on Wednesday, April 10th.
“The International Diving Institute is just one of three on the east coast provides training and certification for students in commercial diving and underwater welding,” nternational Diving Institute CEO Michael Hielscher said. “This specialized certification program draws students from across the country and the world including training and certifying members of the U.S. military.”
Once students complete the program, they can expect beginning salaries ranging from $80,000 to $150,000. More than 90% of the students of the International Diving Institute will have a job once they complete the training and certification programs.
“Before making such a substantial capital investment on the old Navy Base, we looked at the possibility of moving the International Diving Institute to another part of the country,” co-owner Carver Laraway and President of Carver Companies said. “We ultimately decided to stay in North Charleston due in large part working with City of North Charleston officials and in particular due to Mayor Summey’s vision for the city and the base.”
The International Diving Institute is located at 2340 Avenue F at the old Navy Base in North Charleston. You can learn more at https://www.idicharleston.edu.
