McLeod Plantation Historic Site to Close During U.S. Women’s Open

The McLeod Plantation Historic Site will be closed to the public from Monday, May 27th to Monday, June 3rd during the 74th U.S. Women’s Open while limited sections of the property are used to support operational aspects of the USGA’s national championship, which will be held in Charleston for the first time. All measures have been put in place to protect the historic buildings, landscape and cultural resources at McLeod.

The limited areas of the historic site that will be utilized are:

• The McLeod Welcome Center and other designated parking areas
• The pavilion parking lot that is across Country Club Drive
• No historic buildings will be used by the U.S. Women’s Open

McLeod Plantation Historic Site is located at 325 Country Club Drive on James Island, on the same street as the course hosting the tournament, the Country Club of Charleston.

“Charleston County Parks is pleased to support the U.S. Women’s Open and the economic impact and international spotlight it shines on the Lowcountry,” David Bennett, executive director of Charleston County Parks, said. “On Tuesday, June 4th, we will reopen with our regular schedule and look forward to welcoming visitors to this incredible site that has borne witness to some of the most significant periods of Charleston’s – and our nation’s – history.”
