Dupree Hart (Rock Hill, S.C.) drove in three runs, Tradd James (Sumter, S.C.) tossed five and one-third scoreless frames in relief, and Nathan Ocker (Middletown, Pa.) pitched a perfect ninth to lead College of Charleston to a 5-3 come-from-behind win over Towson on Saturday afternoon at Patriots Point.

The victory marks College of Charleston’s (31-19, 12-8 CAA) 17th comeback win of the season and keeps the Cougars two and one-half games clear of James Madison for second in the CAA standings. Charleston held Towson (13-36, 6-14 CAA) scoreless over the final seven innings after falling behind, 3-0, in the second.

Hart went 2-for-4 with three RBI’s to pace the offense. The senior put the Cougars on the board with a two-run triple in the second and gave Charleston the lead with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the sixth. Bradley Dixon (Greenwood, S.C.) collected two hits and drove in Hart with a game-tying RBI double. Chaz Davey (North Augusta, S.C.) went 2-for-4 as Logan McRae (Florence, S.C.) added an insurance run with a run-scoring single in the seventh.

James turned in a superb relief outing scattering three hits and striking out three over five and one-third scoreless innings to earn his third win. Josh Price (Dillion, S.C.) worked one and one-third blank frames and Ocker pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to collect his 26th career save.

Brad Powers drove in two of Towson’s three runs with a solo homer and an RBI single in a 2-for-5 effort. Javon Fields went 1-for-5 with a run-scoring single as Jack Rotteveel reached base four times in a 3-for-3 performance. Gavin Weyman took the loss for the Tigers after allowing four runs – one earned – on nine hits in five and one-third innings.

Charleston returns to the diamond on Sunday in the series finale against Towson. First pitch has been moved to 11:00 a.m. in an effort to avoid weather forecasted to move into the area later in the afternoon. The Cougars will honor their senior class in their annual Senior Day ceremony following the game’s conclusion.
