East Cooper Community Outreach partners with local businesses

Press Release

East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO), a four-star rated Charity Navigator nonprofit, has joined South Carolina’s first Greenwise Market in Mount Pleasant as its newest community partner. Greenwise Market will be supporting ECCO through its Good Works program. Patrons must designate ECCO as their nonprofit of choice at checkout for the customer-appointed proceeds to benefit the organization.

ECCO is calling for other local businesses to follow Greenwise’s example and get involved to support nonprofits in their very own backyard. While Greenwise is donating a portion of sales, other organizations can donate goods, organize volunteer days and more.

“ECCO can only serve this community with the support of this community,” said Stephanie Kelley, executive director of ECCO. “We are so excited to engage with our community to celebrate 30 years of helping neighbors help themselves, and hope to see others take this milestone as an opportunity to get involved with a local nonprofit.”

ECCO provides safety-net services in three main areas: basic needs, health and empowerment. They help neighbors in financial distress while empowering them to create better lives for themselves, their families and their communities. To celebrate their 30th anniversary, ECCO recently launched a 30-week campaign that will carry through Giving Tuesday on December 3, 2019. In addition to digital initiatives, ECCO also began distributing “ECCO Partner” window clings for supporters and businesses to proudly share their involvement as stewards of the nonprofit.

With services going beyond their client choice wellness pantry, ECCO offers plenty of opportunities for organizations to get involved, including healthcare, professional development, fundraising, the clothing closet and more.

“We’ve had business and community organizations help in ways that run the gamut from weekly church food drives to leading a workshop for clients,” said Kelley. “We welcome our community members’ generosity in order to serve over 2,000 families each year.”
