Zaxby’s Hosts Lowcountry First Responders Weekend Benefiting Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy
All Charleston Zaxby’s locations are hosting a benefit weekend to support Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy, a local nonprofit that provides community crisis care to first responders and survivors of emergency situations. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of sales from the 12 Charleston-area restaurants on Saturday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 4th to the organization.
“We hope our donations to the Chaplaincy and its First Responders Assistance Fund will benefit the lives and well-being of the men and women who protect and serve our area on a daily basis,” Charleston Zaxby’s licensee Tripp Clayton said. “We’re proud to partner with this organization and look forward to feeding our guests meals that make a difference.”
The Chaplaincy is a diverse team of first responders who provide citizens with emergency on-scene response through emotional and spiritual first aid. The nonprofit promotes unity, reconciliation and resiliency for a collaborative community as well as a pastoral continuum of care. From its start with one chaplain, it has grown to two full-time and more than 60 volunteer chaplains as well as a Survivor Care Team that offer services 24 hours a day, seven days a week in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties.
“On the scene, at the tragedy, our chaplains are there,” Rich Robinson, senior chaplain and executive director at Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy said. “In our service to our greatest public servants, Zaxby’s has been there for us. From feeding police, fire and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel to donating to make this mission possible, Zaxby’s continues to make an impact in our community. I hope Charleston will join us for a meal that will turn their support into service.”
A wing eating contest will be held at 12:30 pm on August 3rd at the Tanger Outlet Zaxby’s, located at 4845 Tanger Outlet Blvd. in North Charleston, to see who can eat the most Tongue Torch wings in five minutes. Contestants include representatives from the fire and police departments. The public is encouraged to attend and support the cause.
