North Charleston Fire Department Hosts Apparatus Dedication Ceremony Friday
The North Charleston Fire Department is conducting an apparatus dedication ceremony on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 10 am at the North Charleston Fire Museum. Three new units will be dedicated in a traditional “wet-down” ceremony. Mayor Keith Summey and Fire Chief Gregory Bulanow will be speaking and City Council members will be in attendance.
The event will be held in the parking lot of the North Charleston Fire Museum, located at 4975 Centre Pointe Drive. Parking will be available in the fire museum parking lot and seating will be available for attendees. Light refreshments will be provided.
The following are descriptions of each of the units that were provided by the fire department:
Rescue 201 is a 2019 Pierce Arrow XT walk-in Heavy Rescue. It is powered by a Cummins engine. It has features including an onboard air system, light tower and hydraulic rescue tools. In addition to handling a wide range of rescue incidents it is also equipped to handle hazardous material response. This is the second heavy rescue for North Charleston Fire Department.
Engine 204 is a 2019 Pierce Arrow XT triple combination pumper. It is powered by a Cummins engine and is equipped with a Hale 1500 gallon-per-minute pump, carries 750 gallons of water and has an onboard foam system. Engine 204 is the eleventh standardized engine in NCFD’s fleet.
Ladder 204 is a Pierce Arrow XT 107-foot Ascendant heavy duty aerial ladder. It is powered by a Detroit diesel engine. It has a 1500 gallon-per-minute Hale pump and carries 500 gallons of water. It has an on-board generator. It is the first rear mount aerial ladder of its make in North Charleston Fire Department’s fleet.
