Roper St. Francis Healthcare on Saturday held its first free sports injury clinic at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital.

The clinic allows middle and high school athletes who may have suffered an injury the night before to have a free evaluation by an orthopedic doctor or athletic trainer who specialize in sports medicine. It runs each Saturday morning from 9 to 11 am from August 31st to November 2nd.

“We’re proud to work closely with Charleston County Public Schools by providing trainers and doing everything we can to keep student athletes healthy before, during and after the games,” Kyle Prothro, Roper St. Francis Healthcare Sports Medicine Manager, said. “We’re fans too, and this is our way of giving back to the community with the weekly sports injury clinic. It fulfills our mission to provide compassionate care for all.”

The Saturday clinic is run on a first-come, first-served basis. The initial exam is free. Additional services may come with a fee.
