SC Works Trident to Hold Career Readiness Testing
Press Release
SC Works Trident is set to host a new series of career readiness assessment testing sessions at their main office on Hanahan Road in North Charleston to begin the new year.
The WorkKeys and WIN assessments, measure foundational skills required for success in the workplace. Verification of career readiness is an important step on the pathway to employment and gives employers critical insight on a potential employees’ skills relevant to any occupation across industries.
“SC Works Trident is excited to start the upcoming year providing the first step in gaining employment for individuals across a number of career fields,” said Sharon Goss, the SC Works workforce development director. “What this represents is an opportunity for our participants, and opportunity means the chance for a fresh start to a new and exciting career.”
In July 2018 South Carolina’s official workforce assessment testing changed to WIN from WorkKeys, the Worldwide Interactive Network test.
A number of key high need industries such as manufacturing, welding and construction, require WorkKeys or WIN testing as a qualifier for employment. Due to that requirement, some companies may pay for assessment testing, Goss said. Individuals looking for employment in one of those industries should contact the potential employer or readySC to find out if WorkKeys or WIN testing is needed for their chosen career path, she said.
Assessments will begin the first week of January and continue on throughout the year. Interested individuals should call to schedule a testing appointment.
“We want to empower the workforce with the information, resources and pathways they need to find successful, fulfilling careers in our region’s leading industries,” Goss said. “SC Works Trident is the demand-driven, industry-based workforce solution ready to serve our Trident region job seekers.
