Doom Flamingo Releases New Music Video
Local synthwave sextet Doom Flamingo today released a music video for “Somebody,” the band’s sixth single. The group says the tune “highlights the band’s ‘flamingo’ side as it relates to their Jekyll & Hyde approach to songwriting.”
The video features retro edits from friend-of-the-band Dylan Dawkins and footage provided by the band’s drummer Stu White. Doom Flamingo’s front-of-house sound engineer Matt Zutell, owner/operator of Charleston’s Coast Records, also worked closely with the band for recording and mixing.
Doom Flamingo describes themselves as having “Top Gun guitar riffs and Miami Beach poolside lounge-vibes…contrasted with eerie darksynth soundscapes reminiscent of old John Carpenter films.” The sextet is made up of bassist Ryan Stasik, of the prolific rock band Umphrey’s McGee, vocalist Kanika Moore, Ross Bogan on the keyboards, guitarist Thomas Kenney, White on the drums, and saxophonist Mike Quinn.
