Hotel Bennett Earns Four-Star Rating from Forbes Travel Guide
Press Release
Hotel Bennett, the luxury Charleston hotel which opened only last year, was recently awarded the prestigious Four-Star Rating by the Forbes Travel Guide.
The gold standard in the hospitality industry since 1958, the Forbes Star ratings are based on professional, anonymous inspections. With this new honor, Hotel Bennett becomes one of only two hotels with the Forbes Four-Star rating in historic Charleston, the top-ranked American city across numerous surveys.
The hotel is named for the Charleston-based Bennett family, and is owned by local hotelier and businessman Michael Bennett. The property is managed by Salamander Hotels & Resorts, the Washington, D.C.-area luxury hotel company founded by Sheila Johnson.
“This is an immensely proud moment for my family,” Michael Bennett said. “Our goal is always to Be Kind, and we are grateful to our entire team of service professionals, led by General Manager Marty Wall, who truly make a difference to all our guests – whether they live locally or are visiting our beautiful city.”
The 179-room hotel is located on the corner of the city’s famed King Street and historic Marion Square, and carefully combines European architectural inspiration married with classic Southern stylings and furnishings throughout. It features Gabrielle restaurant, which features a sweeping outdoor dining terrace and a New Orleans-inspired menu developed by Executive Chef Michael Sichel; the French-style La Pâtisserie on King Street offering authentic French pastries, desserts, sandwiches, and a full coffee bar; Fiat Lux, the hotel’s rooftop bar, offering sweeping views of Charleston’s Harbor and cityscape; and Camellias at Hotel Bennett – a stunning oval-shaped champagne bar, striking in its design and pink hue.
The property includes The King’s Club, a curated concierge club overlooking King Street; and a luxury spa with five treatment rooms, including a couples’ room, relaxation area, manicure/pedicure studio, and fitness center. It also features over 12,000 square feet of grand event and meeting spaces, including the 6,600-square-foot Crown Ballroom with a dramatic 30-foot ceiling and expansive arched windows, and a rooftop Observatory room.
