Charleston Wine + Food Statement Regarding Announcement of Presumed COVID-19 Case in Charleston County
The following is an unedited statement from Charleston Wine + Food regarding the MUSC and DHEC announcement of a presumed positive COVID-19 test result in Charleston County:
On Friday, March 6, DHEC announced that it is investigating two possible cases of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus, one in Charleston county. MUSC confirmed that they tested and treated the patient, who followed all appropriate public health protocols.
DHEC assured the public that the risk remains low, and there is no evidence of ongoing transmission in the community at this time.
Charleston Wine + Food is closely monitoring the situation with guidance from CDC, DHEC, and MUSC and at this time will continue with all festival events as planned.
The safety of our guests and participants continues to be our number one priority. According to public health officials, individuals should take simple daily precautions including getting the flu vaccine, washing your hands, and covering your cough.
Charleston Wine + Food has implemented additional hand-washing and hand-sanitizing stations at all events and the organization is encouraging guests, volunteers, and participants to not attend events if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms.
