St. Patrick’s Day Parade Sponsors Announce Cancellations Due to Coronavirus
The following is a statement from the City of Charleston:
In phone calls with Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg this morning, the sponsors of both St. Patrick’s Day parades scheduled to take place in the city of Charleston on Tuesday, March 17th, 2020, have agreed to suspend their plans due to the rapidly evolving situation related to the coronavirus.
The following St. Patrick’s Day parades have been canceled:
- Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division I parade, scheduled to begin at the corner of Radcliffe and King Streets and proceed to Broad Street, ending in front of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist
- Hibernian Society parade, scheduled to begin on East Bay Street and proceed down Broad Street
