Occupy Charleston Review

Published

on

The Occupy Wall Street movement made its way to the Lowcountry recently. Although the Occupy Charleston gathering wasn’t anywhere near the size and scope of the New York City version, it was still an interesting event. I ventured down to Brittlebank Park one afternoon to see what the peaceful protestors were up to.

The park was quiet as there were only 20 or so people there at the moment. A couple was playing some music on acoustic guitars, while other people chatted under tents. There were a few protests signs and a food tent as well. There wasn’t much going on when I was there, but there were events scheduled throughout the weekend.

So what did occur there? The Cistern, the College of Charleston’s student-run newspaper, has the most detailed article I could find. You can read that piece HERE.
