NOH8 Open Photo Shoot in Charleston
As I mentioned in a previous post, Charleston native Stephen Colbert lent his voice to the “It Gets Better Project,” but now every Holy City resident has an opportunity to support equality. The charitable organization NOH8 will be holding an Open Photo Shoot on April 20th at the Hippodrome. Anyone is welcome to attend and have their picture taken for the NOH8 Campaign.
The campaign is described on the official site as: “a photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with “NOH8” painted on one cheek in protest.”
The group has gained attention over the last three years for its distinctive photos of celebrities sporting that NOH8 logo, but they’ve also taken plenty of pictures of all sorts of people who wanted to support their campaign.
If you’d like to lend your mug to NOH8 be sure to arrive between 5 pm and 8pm on the day of the event. It’s requested that you wear white and be “camera ready.” For more details click HERE.
