Palmetto Brewing’s Aftershock Rumbles Back into Charleston

Published

on

aftershockWell, look who’s back – The Palmetto Brewing Co. is about to re-release Aftershock, their popular blast-from-the-near-past beer.

The equivalent of about 225 kegs will hit the Charleston market over the next few days, which means they won’t last long. Fans can find the brew in a handful of restaurants, in 6-packs, and on-tap in Palmetto’s brand new tasting room.

The beer, which debuted in 2011, is a dry hopped California Common. It is the brewery’s tribute to Charleston’s pre-Prohibition Palmetto Brewery. Aftershock is made in a similar fashion to what the original brewers served at a party celebrating the Holy City’s “rebirth” after the Great Earthquake of 1886. In fact, William Courtenay, the city’s mayor at the time, commissioned the old brewery to make a “Charleston Earthquake Beer” for a city-wide celebration.
