Tamara Curry Announces Candidacy for Probate Court Judge of Charleston County

Charleston County Associate Probate Judge Tamara Curry (right) today officially announced her candidacy for Probate Court Judge of Charleston County. She will be running against incumbent Irv Condon, who has been the Charleston County Probate Judge since being elected in November 1994.

Judge Curry has been an Associate Probate Judge for the last 22 years. She is recognized for starting the first Mental Health Court in South Carolina and for being the first African American to be elected President of the National Probate Judges Association. In June of 2010, Judge Curry was appointed to serve as one of the presiding judges for the Charleston County Juvenile Drug Court.

She is a graduate of South Carolina State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science in 1985 and received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University Of Tennessee College of Law in 1988. She was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in 1988 and South Carolina in 1992.
