Rep. Mace Welcomes Support of the American Flood Coalition for Her Bipartisan V.A. Flood Bill

Published

Melissa Roberts, the Executive Director of American Flood Coalition Action, announced her organization’s support for recently introduced legislation by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) and Rep. Troy Carter (D-La.) that aims to curtail the impact of flooding at VA health facilities in the Lowcountry.

“Access to life-saving healthcare and emergency services should never be cut off due to flooding,” Roberts said. “Unfortunately, washed-out roads and flooded infrastructure can prevent veterans in need of urgent medical care from reaching VA facilities in South Carolina, Louisiana, and elsewhere throughout the country. American Flood Coalition Action applauds Congresswoman Mace and Congressman Carter for their bipartisan leadership on the VA Flood Preparedness Act. This commonsense proposal would empower the VA to work directly with local governments on flood mitigation projects that secure safe and reliable access to critical care facilities for veterans and provide Congress with a better understanding of the flood risk facing these essential public health assets.”

The American Flood Coalition Action joins the American Legion and the group Military-Veterans Advocacy in endorsing this legislation.
