Press Release

What started with 360 dogs entering in March of this year, the contest is now down to 48 finalists competing for the 12 spots in Lowcountry Dog Magazine’s 2023 Calendar. This contest is a search for some of the best dog models in the Lowcountry – and the contest is getting serious! Dogs of all shapes and sizes have entered and they all have top model potential. Over 7,000 votes have been cast so far and expectations are that over 20,000 votes will be cast by the end of the contest.

In April, ten judges picked the 48 finalists out of the 300+ entries.  A professional photoshoot took place in May at Hampton Park and now those 48 dogs are competing for public votes. Voting continues until June 30th online at Lowcountrydog.com/modelcontest. Voting is open to anyone and is free. While it costs nothing to vote, donations are accepted after voting, to raise money for local rescues and shelters.

This contest started over 15 years ago, with one winner getting a cover shoot.  Since 2018, the contest has evolved into both a cover model contest as well as finding the annual calendar models.  Voting rules are simple, one vote per person per dog and voting for multiple dogs is allowed!  The 2023 Lowcountry Dog Calendars are also available for pre-order at the site and profit from the calendar sales benefits local rescues and shelters.
