Charleston County Accepting Well, Septic Tank, and Connection Program Applications
Press Release
The Community Development and Revitalization Department of Charleston County is accepting applications for our Well, Septic Tank, and Connection Program. There will be several workshops (see below) where residents will have an opportunity to apply. This program provides safe water and wastewater or sewer systems for income-eligible residents by replacing failing wells and septic systems, providing maintenance services for wells and septic systems, and assisting with the cost of impact fees, tap fees, and plumbing fees for connection to existing water and sewer infrastructure.
“Clean, reliable drinking water and safe, sanitary sewage disposal systems are priorities for Charleston County Council,” says Director of Community Development and Revitalization LoElla Smalls. “The Well, Septic Tank, and Connection Program assists income-eligible citizens with replacing/repairing failing well or septic tank systems and connecting to water or wastewater infrastructure when available.”
To qualify for this program, residents must:
- Reside in Charleston County.
- Provide proof of ownership or ownership interest in the case of heirs’ property.
- Be the owner’s primary residence.

Interested residents can apply beginning August 21:
